Laylatul Qadr 2027 is expected in the last ten nights of Ramadan, between the evenings of 27 February and 8 March 2027. In Pakistan the odd nights are expected on 28 February and 2, 4, 6 and 8 March, with the 27th night on Saturday 6 March. In Saudi Arabia they fall a day earlier, with the 27th night on Friday 5 March.

What is Laylatul Qadr?

Laylatul Qadr, also called Shab e Qadr in Urdu, means "the Night of Power" or "the Night of Decree". It is the night the Quran was first revealed. The Quran describes it in a short chapter, Surah Al-Qadr, as "better than a thousand months", which is more than 83 years.

The exact night is hidden. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) told his companions to look for it in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan. That is why Muslims around the world put extra effort into worship from the 21st night onwards.

When are the odd nights of Laylatul Qadr 2027?

In the Islamic calendar a new day starts at sunset. So the "27th night" begins on the evening of the 26th fast and ends at Fajr on the 27th. The table below shows the evening each night begins.

Odd night Pakistan, India, Bangladesh Saudi Arabia, Gulf, UK, USA
21st night Sunday 28 February Saturday 27 February
23rd night Tuesday 2 March Monday 1 March
25th night Thursday 4 March Wednesday 3 March
27th night Saturday 6 March Friday 5 March
29th night Monday 8 March Sunday 7 March

These dates assume Ramadan starts on Tuesday 9 February in Pakistan and Monday 8 February in Saudi Arabia. If the moon is sighted a day later, every night moves a day later too. You can check the full month on our Ramadan 1448 calendar.

Why do Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have different nights?

Pakistan's Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee starts each month after an actual sighting of the crescent. The new moon is often too thin to see from Pakistan on the first evening, so Ramadan usually begins one day after Saudi Arabia, whose Umm al-Qura calendar is set by astronomy.

This means the odd nights in Lahore are the even nights in Riyadh, and the other way round. Many scholars advise following your own local calendar and, if you can, worshipping on all ten nights so you never miss it. Our Islamic date today in Pakistan page shows the local Hijri date at any time.

How can you spend Laylatul Qadr 2027?

You do not need a complicated plan. A few focused hours each night are better than one exhausted all-nighter. Common acts of worship include:

  1. Pray Isha and taraweeh in congregation, then add a few extra rakats of night prayer (qiyam).
  2. Recite or listen to the Quran, even a short surah with its meaning.
  3. Make dua for yourself, your family and the whole ummah, in your own words and language.
  4. Repeat the dua for forgiveness taught by the Prophet: Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni.
  5. Give sadaqah, even a small amount, so that if this is the night it is multiplied.
  6. Do dhikr such as SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah and Allahu akbar while resting.

Many mosques in Pakistan hold special programmes, khatm-ul-Quran and long duas on the 27th night. Others observe itikaf, staying in the mosque for the whole of the last ten days.

How do you plan the last ten nights around work and sleep?

Ramadan 2027 falls in late winter, so nights are long. In Lahore, iftar on 6 March is around 6:04 PM and sehri the next morning ends around 5:03 AM, giving roughly 11 hours of night. A practical routine might be:

  • Sleep early after taraweeh for two or three hours.
  • Wake up around 2 AM for night prayer, Quran and dua.
  • Eat sehri and pray Fajr, then rest if your day allows.

Can you observe Laylatul Qadr at home?

Yes. Worship on this night is not limited to the mosque. Women who cannot attend, people who are unwell, parents with young children and anyone travelling can all pray, read Quran and make dua at home. Some families set up a quiet corner with a prayer mat and a copy of the Quran, and take turns reading aloud so children can join in.

If you are not able to pray, for example during menstruation, you can still make dua, do dhikr, listen to the Quran and give charity. Scholars agree that these acts carry the blessing of the night as well. What matters most is a sincere heart and steady effort across the last ten nights.

What are the signs of Laylatul Qadr?

Some narrations describe the night as calm and peaceful, neither hot nor cold, and the sun the next morning as rising without strong rays. These signs are often only noticed afterwards, so do not wait for them. The safest approach is the one the Prophet taught: seek it across all the odd nights.
